Working in the field of palliative care and hospice for more than 20 years, I have had the privilege to sit in very sacred spaces with people in their most raw and vulnerable moments. Being up close and personal to the end of life, not only in my work but in my personal life, has given me the gift of understanding what “don’t sweat the small stuff” really means, and revealed to me what the big things truly are.

I have attended to grief, hardship, and pain when a person is experiencing a difficult loss, a challenging relationship, an existential crisis, or otherwise going through a tumultuous time. As a fellow human being, I understand the journey. I offer compassion, presence, and wisdom while providing the spaciousness for you to find your way toward wholeness and restoration at your own individual pace. Specializing in grief, somatic therapy, self-exploration and growth, I tend each individual client with kindness and patience helping to create a safe container in which a person can explore, heal and grow.

I am a Certified Professional Coach, Licensed Massage Therapist, Writer, and Shamanic Practitioner. I am in private practice and have worked with the Palliative Care Team at the University of Rochester  Medical Center for more than twenty years as a massage therapist and bereavement specialist with adults and children and taught continuing education in Rochester, Syracuse, and Manhattan, New York.

I am certified in oncology massage, complete decongestive therapy for lymphedema, and trained in Reiki and Therapeutic  Touch. I lead various group discussions, and have served on the advisory board at Finger Lakes Community College for the massage therapy program. After studying and practicing shamanism under Dr. Cecile Carson, I completed an apprenticeship and am considered an elder in the shamanic community.

I write essays on grief, parenting, and life transitions at karincole.substack.com and have authored a book…Love, Harold. I feel strongly about human rights and equality, and seek to create writing that fosters a sense of unity, hope and resilience.

“We are biological, psychological, social, and spiritual beings who came into this world with a purpose. I believe that kindness, empathy, and telling our stories connects us to our shared humanity and to each other. We were not born to live just a half-life. It is our birthright to be happy and fulfilled in the life that we choose. In order to be whole, we need to tend our body, and spirit and come to an understanding of how all of those things work together to make us who we are.”
